For those of you as yet unacquainted, Hola! & welcome to the world of Sebastian Litmanovich's unique musical creation 'Cineplexx'.

Born in Argentina, Sebastian currently resides in Barcelona & has been recording & performing as Cineplexx since 1997. His first album, 1999's 'Posología', was released by New York based indie label Caipirinha. Ten years on Cineplexx has recorded a further five albums, 2002's Electrocardiograma, 2003's Capacidad Maxima: 1 Persona, 2003's Pequeños Accidentes Domésticos, 2006's Restar & 2008's critically acclaimed Picnic on which he collaborates with Duglas T. Stewart (BMX Bandits), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Jad Fair and Federico Aubele, as well as a more frequent collaborator across all of his records, Sebastian's brother Martin.

This compilation picks a selection of songs from across those albums along with two brand new tracks & a pensive cover of The Rolling Stone's 'Paint It Black', to give listeners a perfectly tuned introduction to the kaleidoscopic sound of Cineplexx.

The title 'Nuevahola' is an amalgamation of 'Nueva' (new) & 'Hola' (hello) to create a new sound which is meant as just that - a new hello. Phonetically the title could also be construed as 'Nueva Ola' which translates as 'New Wave' so in essence, we are saying a new hello to a new wave of Cineplexx music to follow.

For established Cineplexx fans, there is much to enjoy on this compilation - a swirling retrospective of the Cineplexx story so far with a teasing glimpse into what lies in store. For new listeners there is much to look forward to, not least the thirteen magical tracks you're about to hear & the open door welcoming you to kick off your shoes & skip into the sunny world of Cineplexx.

QUOTES FOR NUEVAHOLA:

Nuevahola (CD review) ...“Nuevahola” is a series of soundscapes that spans 1997 to the present. There’s a definite Glasgow connection with the sound which is a spacious, filmic affair that goes from lush and sweeping to fragile and introspective via all the aspects of 60’s and 70’s pop. “Nuevahola" also includes a dust bowl, weather-beaten version of “Paint it Black” the like of which you’ll never have heard before. A nice introduction to a guy with a cool line in alternative treatments using acoustic guitars, synthesisers and pretty much anything else he can get his mitts on. / nextbigthing.blogspot.com by Lindsay Hutton, August 18 2009

Nuevahola (CD review) ...4/5 stars **** The sunny weather manages to bring out a surprise summer soundtrack. Sebastian Litmanovich is an Argentinian in love with indie-pop with a latin lilt. What you get here is a compilation of his best bits and some new stuff, with help from Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake and a couple of BMX Bandits, so you can sense where his music’s going. There’s a chilled-out cover of the Stones’ Paint It Black too. / Sunday Express, July 26, 2009

Nuevahola (CD review) ...Best Albums 2009: A mid-year review. These are the best albums of the year thus far: #5. Cineplexx: Nuevahola (May, Cherry Red Records) - This is an excellent album to be played while hanging out, doing nothing. It fills the room with a relaxing energy and you'll find yourself singing along after a few listens. Although it is a compilation of previously released songs by Cineplexx and 2 new songs, it deserves to be among the best releases of the year. / By: Edson Sanchez Saucidoslant.blogspot.com

Nuevahola (CD review) ...whispery vocals and esoteric soundscapes also bridge into the realm of atmospheric electronic. / IODA

Rodrigo Maceira, Dominodromo blog @ MTV Brasil

Nuevahola (CD review) ...From a record that took a mere twelve years to collate, Sebastian Litmanovich at long, long, long last releases a sort of Best Of album. These aren’t the Cineplexx A-Sides, you see, they’re a medley of the Argentine graphic designer’s more peculiar moments: the thirteen brightest demos and trinkets from his six installments to date. “Mejor,” however, is the newly-recorded lure, the one the fans will isolate from the download and be keen to get acquainted with. And talk about jewel in the crown: the dreamy haze and Spanish pop fit the recent hot weather like a glove, leaving me with a strong urge to say, “fuck it” and head to the beach. As bronzed and decadent as Richard Hawley and with more than just a little hint of hula, “Mejor”‘s lazy chords and unstressed snare drums are just what the doctor ordered—something to take your mind off the bad shit besieging the world at the moment. In his floaty lilt from the heart of Barcelona, Litmanovich conjures the dream sounds of sixties chill, transporting you to a time where open convertibles and free love flowed like the warm summer sun. It might sound a little fey to the white knuckle gang, but given that there’s not much flowing at the minute except for the steady spread of pig disease, I know where I’d rather be" - www.cokemachineglow.com

Mejor (Single song review) ...Cineplexx's new single, "Mejor," a lush breeze of hazy guitar strums, enchanting Spanish coos, and soothing waves of percussion. It's just the right stuff for the laziest of beach bums, late night drive enthusiasts, or perhaps those of you still recovering after a long, long night. / Muumuse.com
